Electric Vehicles Application Engineer:
  • MoTeC USA is the North American distributor for MoTeC Pty, Ltd, a Bosch company. We operate across North America in the service and supply area of motorsports, off-highway, and marine. Our dynamic team develops customized electronic solutions for EV, hybrid, and internal combustion platforms for racing cars, motorcycles, and commercial vehicles, as well as for industrial vehicles and watercraft, utilizing innovative, high-tech products from MoTeC. About the Job:
  • The ideal candidate will be EV focused as a core responsibility and will support all MoTeC products. This role focuses on supporting MoTeC equipment in developing vehicle control systems and integration solutions for various projects, encompassing internal combustion, hybrid, and pure electric (EV) powertrains. The EV focus will include using MoTeC’s M1 Build software development tool, which provides a Visual Studio-style programming environment.
Job Requirements:
  • Understanding of traditional internal combustion engines, DC electronics, fuel injection, and hybridization of powertrains
  • Proficient with Mathworks Simulink®
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Efficiently troubleshoot problems in real-time
  • Minimum four-year BS degree in a relevant Engineering field
  • Applicable programming skillset and experience using C, C++, or C#
  • Firm understanding of CAN and other vehicle communication protocols
  • Able to work independently and in groups, meeting project goals and timelines
Main duties and responsibilities:
  • Learn to program and work with MoTeC’s core product range and their associated software development and calibration tools
  • Provide technical support to projects, external customers, and business development activities
  • Work with Matlab/Simulink to design and develop EV control solutions
  • Develop EV solutions encompassing central vehicle control, battery management systems, HV batteries, and motor controllers using MoTeC products
  • Testing, tuning, and commissioning of developed EV supervisory control systems
  • Participate in reverse engineering work as required on OEM systems, including CAN message decoding
  • Update and maintain resources (manuals, presentation slides, seminar notes, etc.)
  • Develop electrical designs and technical drawings to produce EV applications• Implement testing to assess performance and compliance with EV-related standards
  • Monitor and assess evolving technologies for integration into new and existing solutions
  • Compliance with environmental, health and safety, engineering, and quality standards and procedures
  • Role will require local and limited international travel
